Perfect Golf Swing Tips
Club Alignment and Stance
- Look for a mark in direct line between the flag and your golf ball
- Imagine a line between these two reference points
- Position your club face square to this line
- Stand parallel to this imaginary line
Golf Grip - Left Hand
- Rest your golf club naturally on the ground behind the ball
- Make sure the shaft lies across the top of your index finger
- The club grip should fit under the heel of your palm
- Make sure your little finger is around the grip so the club won’t move
- Place your thumb straight on top of the grip so two knuckles are visible
Golf Grip - Right Hand
- Shake hands with the golf club and settle your grip
- Now fold your right hand over your left thumb
- Your right thumb should point directly in line with your left shoulder
- That is, your right thumb should angle to the left of the club shaft
Choose Correct Golf Grip
- There are three correct golf grips to choose from: Vardon or Overlapping Grip(most popular), Interlocking Grip, or Baseball Grip
- Overlapping Grip - Place your right little finger between the index and middle fingers of your left hand
- Interlocking Grip - Lock your right little finger and left index finger together (good for those with small hands)
- Baseball Grip - Place your hands as if you were holding a baseball bat while still gripping the club correctly
Correct Golf Stance
- Place your feet shoulder width apart
- Your feet, knees, hips, and shoulders should all be parallel to target
- Your right foot should point straight ahead (at right angle to target)
- Your left foot should point slightly toward your target
- Lean forward slightly at the waist and bend your knees slightly
- Club should pass roughly a hand’s width from your body on swing
- Your weight should be on the balls of your feet
- Both arms are straight and relaxed with left shoulder higher than right
- Follow video tip on determining correct shoulder position with club
Perfect Golf Swing
- Do a lower body “waggle” to loosen up and check your balance
- Your back swing starts with a rotation of your upper body that keeps your back at the correct angle.
- Your shoulders should turn fully, leaving your back facing the target and your weight on the inside of your right foot
- Your downswing should push your weight from right to left and rotate your body and hips, allowing your shoulders, arms and hands to follow through
- On impact, your hips are turned with the shoulders parallel to the ball
- The swing movement should be smooth and unbroken, continuing until your whole body is facing the target
- Your right foot should move immediately after impact, otherwise you won’t be able to swing through smoothly
In a perfect golf swing, the whole swing should be one unbroken movement with your body relaxed throughout. To get more power, simply rotate faster, but you must stay relaxed with your hips leading your shoulders all the way through the end of the swing.
And that’s the video and pictures of the perfect golf swing.
