LPGA Youngest Player – LPGA youngest player to win an LPGA event is Lexi Thompson with a 5 stroke victory at Navistar LPGA Classic.

This new LPGA youngest player ever to win an LPGA event, Lexi Thompson, is just 16 years old and qualified for the the US Women’s Open at the tender age of 12 and turned pro at 16.

Lexi Thompson, the LPGA’s youngest and newest wonder child said that it has been her dream for her ‘entire’ life to play out on the golf course as a professional.

Thompson was accompanied by her father as her caddy and admitted to being nervous on the first tee, but after the first drive on to the fairway she was just fine.

“I was nervous on the first tee, I won’t lie. If you’re not nervous, you don’t care. Once I hit the first tee shot, I was like, ‘All right, I’m good.’”

For Lexi Thompson the LPGA, win or not, is not granting her an automatic LPGA Tour membership since she is not 18. Anyone under that age is required to petition the Tour for an exemption.

Lexi joins other LPGA ‘youngest player’ notables in the record books such as Yani Tseng and Michelle Wie. Tseng became the youngest player in LPGA history to capture four major titles this year and Michelle Wie, back in 2002, was lauded as the the youngest player ever to qualify for an LPGA tournament (Takefuji Classic) at age 12.
